First Peoples Cultural Summit – Public Gallery Session 

The Marram-Nganjinu Biik-Gurin (We are Country) First Nations Cultural Summit – 8-10 May – concludes today (Wednesday 10 May).

Whilst the advertised Public Gallery session is going ahead the organisers have decided not to live stream today’s session.

An update regarding the First Peoples Cultural Statement that is being developed through the Summit will be presented on Friday at the First Peoples First Workshop and then shared through the Arts Front networks.

First Peoples First – Campaign Planning Workshop

Abbotsford Convent – the Oratory

12.00pm – 3.00pm

Building on the strategic national priorities identified at last year’s Arts Front 2030 gathering, the purpose of this three hour workshop is for Arts Front members to work together on action plans for the roll out of the First Peoples First campaign nationally over the next twelve months.

We will hear updates and presentations from an amazing line up of First Nations leaders about key cultural and arts initiatives underway across the country, including:

Merindah Donnelly – The Blak Dance Forum
Peter White – The First Peoples Cultural Summit
Lydia Miller (TBC) – NIACA
Nancy Bamaga – The Fake Art Campaign
Lily Shearer – Black Fella Performing Arts
Jeremy Neideck – Performing Country Project

We will also get updates and information on upcoming events across the country that Arts Front and the First Peoples First Campaign is working to connect and coordinate with, including:

Cairns Indigenous Arts Fair (CIAF) – 14 – 16 July
Clancestry Brisbane – 25 – 29 August
Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair – 11 – 13 August
Tarnanthi – (dates TBC)
