TNN presents The State of the Sector
Join Theatre Network NSW to meet with NSW Minister for the Arts Don Harwin. CEO of the Australian Council for the Arts Adrian Collette and Executive Director of Arts on Tour Antonia Seymour, to discuss the Arts funding landscape over the coming three years. This is an opportunity to reflect on and discuss the issues currently faced by the theatre and performance sector in New South Wales and Australia. The State of the Sector will be Chaired by Annette Sun Wah, Executive Producer of Contemporary Asian Australian Performance.
NSW has the largest theatre industry of any Australian state or territory. With changes to the funding landscape currently being implemented State-wide and nationally, it is a difficult time for NSW theatre practitioners. This was evident in the results from TNN’s 2019 Health of the Sector Survey. Thirty Six percent of practicing artists in NSW learnt less then minimal wage ($38,5000) in the last 12 months.
The State of Sector is a crucial sector gathering and opportunity to hear the vision for the future of our theatre industry from the State Government and Federal arts funding bodies and examine how we as a sector can create positive change.
